Previously we announced our group would be returning to an in-person format starting in January of 2022. In efforts to give our group the best solution for the current conditions we all face and to meet the restrictions of BNI National Chapter, the Membership Committee has now agreed to the following format for our meetings beginning in January 2022. For now we will “officially” be a 100% virtual chapter by BNI standards!
We will however, offer In-Person-Virtual meetings, that’s right it is an oxymoron, In-Person-Virtual! In-person-virtual meetings will be offered on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month at the Rockville Hilton. The dates for our meetings in the 2022 calendar year are as follows:
This gives us 22 in-person-virtual meetings a year [no meeting July 4 and Labor Day]. At each in-person-virtual meeting we will set up the 360 degree camera and projector to allow those joining us at the in-person-virtual meeting to participate as if they were attending remotely. You are reading this message correctly, you are attending the in-person-virtual meeting to feel as if you are attending it remotely [this could be the story line for the next Matrix movie]. If you are scheduled to be at the in-person-virtual meeting but decide to join via the zoom link that Friday from your alternative location, then you simply lose out on your breakfast fee for that week, but you will still be counted as in attendance. We will have to guarantee a weekly headcount minimum of 25 people to the hotel for each in-person-virtual meeting.
Quarterly chapter fees will be $75 for all members and for those choosing to do their virtual session at the Rockville Hilton on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, your quarterly fees will be $200 which includes the breakfast charges.
This will keep everything in sync with BNI of Central Maryland and if we have a visitor register, we can always tell that individual that there is an in-person-virtual option [then wait for the confused head tilt] on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month.
Based on the various viewpoints and the additional concerns received last week, the Membership Committee believes that this in now the best approach going forward from where we were and for the current situation at hand. As this is an ever changing world we live in, should we need to change the format going forward [i.e. back to 100% in person] we will communicate any change in format with plenty of advance notice.
You will receive a separate email this week asking if you will be attending the in-person-virtual meetings for the 2022 calendar year, stay tuned.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we worked through this complicated and important matter. Should you have any questions, please reach out to the Membership Committee for clarification.
